Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when you collect your vehicle. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the latter will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Fakenham, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the type of vehicle. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. You will need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations can be completed via our website, by phone, or directly at our Fakenham office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and security deposit are generally collected at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are stated in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is necessary to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. Please ensure that the vehicle is returned in the same condition as it was collected, aside from normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; additional refueling charges will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may incur extra fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You are liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with a corresponding administration fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You will find comprehensive details and excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lessen your financial responsibility. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless you opt for additional coverage. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation Policy and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For specific details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, and any other dangerous pursuits. Transporting hazardous materials or sub-letting the vehicle to unauthorized individuals is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden, as is using the vehicle for purposes it was not designed for. Adhering to passenger and weight limits is mandatory, and driving outside the designated geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Fakenham is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for the rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by English and Welsh law. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in England and Wales.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
